We are proud to offer you this quintessential cooking vessel and the workhorse of the Indian kitchen. They are used for weddings, grand banquets, temple ceremonies and traditionally handed down as part of a dowry.
Sourced in Northern Rajasthan, the original kadhai is only made by a handful of artisans in the traditional manner. It is hard repetitive work shaping steel ingots into segments to form the shape of the bowl. The curved segments are then sealed together with handmade steel rivets and repeatedly fired, hammered and cooled. This insures a completely watertight and sealed fit and a heavy duty tool that maintains heat uniformly for lifetime of continuous use.
It has taken time to forge a friendship and trust of the family of kadhai makers and work with them to revive such an ancient craft.
Exclusive to Hand Hammered Woks, this kadhai follows the same unique and timeless craftsmanship as our Chinese woks, and is the perfect size that was once found in every Indian household. With this tool we hope you can create the same magic in your kitchen and share in this timeless tradition of Indian cookery.
Dimensions: 45 cm diameter, 15 cm deep with two 'ear handles'.
